About Wade Sumpter Industries, Inc.

KMF Research, Inc. was founded in Eugene Oregon in 1988 by Wade Sumpter. The first product manufactured was water-based face grade putty, followed by acetone-based face grade and machine grade putties.

In 2003 KMF purchased the assets of its largest competitor, Laurence-David, operating the Western Division and selling the Southern Division. In July, 2006, KMF was sold in an agreement that included a long-term non-compete, however, the rights to the East Coast, as well as Texas and Louisiana were retained. The company is now operating as Wade Sumpter Industries, Inc. based in Charleston, South Carolina. Wade Sumpter Industries, Inc. is producing solvent- and water-based putties, specializing in hardwood plywood applications, as well as End-Seal and Moisture-Meter Inks.
